"We rise as society fails to communicate to its most vulnerable"
"We rise as society fails to communicate to its most vulnerable"
A youth-led consultancy providing expert advice for organisations shaping our lives.
Created by young people, we rise because society has failed to communicate to its most vulnerable.
We work nationally to amplify youth voices, advise change for broken systems, and build a fairer future.

Rising Generation operates across the full youth engagement and consultancy process.
Creating meaningful opportunities for young people to participate, contribute and influence.
Gathering structured, honest and actionable insight into young people's experiences and priorities.
Helping organisations build youth voice into decision-making rather than adding it at the end.
Using youth insight to design, improve and rethink programmes, services and interventions.
Creating spaces where young people, professionals and decision-makers can explore difficult issues together.
Understanding what worked, what did not, what changed and what needs to happen next.
Helping organisations develop the skills and systems required to engage young people meaningfully.
Providing independent advice to organisations navigating complex issues affecting young people.
That's why we fully understand an organisation's needs first before offering a flexible proposal which can include multiple or overlapping services.
Rather than asking you to choose a predefined package, we first seek to understand what you are trying to achieve, who is affected, what needs to be understood, and what change you want to make.
We then build an approach around those needs, combining services where appropriate and avoiding work that does not add value.
Public services. Education. Health. Housing. Transport. Employment. Communities.
Decisions made by organisations every day shape the lives of young people, yet young people are too often consulted too late, heard too selectively, or treated as an audience rather than participants.
Rising Generation exists to change that.
We bring young people's experiences, perspectives and expertise into the rooms where decisions are made.
Not as a box to tick. Not as a statistic. Not as a token voice.
As people with something meaningful to contribute.
Created by young people, Rising Generation exists to ensure that organisations can take action on the issues that directly affect us through the power of raw, unfiltered communication.
We work between young people and organisations to create something neither can achieve alone:
honest insight that organisations can actually use.
Our role is not simply to ask young people what they think.
It is to help organisations understand:
What is happening? Why is it happening? Who is affected? What needs to change? What should happen next?
Our Approach
A young person giving their time should result in more than a thank-you email.
Our projects are designed around a simple principle:
Create safe, accessible and meaningful opportunities for young people to communicate their experiences.
Analyse what young people are telling us within the wider social, organisational and policy context.
Translate insight into practical recommendations, interventions and organisational change.
Close the feedback loop and demonstrate what happened because young people were involved.
Rising Generation was created by young people because we understand the difference between being consulted and being heard.
Our youth-led foundation shapes how we approach every project.
Young people are not an abstract demographic to us.
We understand the language, environments, pressures and realities that shape youth experiences.
Our role is not to tell organisations what they want to hear.
It is to help them understand what they need to hear.
Meaningful engagement requires space for disagreement, criticism and uncomfortable findings.
Youth voice becomes significantly more powerful when it is structured, analysed and translated into actionable insight.
A consultation should not end when the report is published.
The real measure is what changes afterwards.
We work nationally across sectors including:
Supporting councils to understand young residents and develop better services, strategies and policies.
Supporting schools and education organisations with student voice, consultation, research and improvement.
Helping organisations understand the communities they serve and strengthen youth participation.
Bringing youth insight into the design and improvement of services.
Supporting workplaces to attract, train, and keep young staff by building better entry paths, outreach and work culture
Helping organisations understand young people as stakeholders, service users and communities.
The problems affecting young people are interconnected.
We therefore work across issues including
Education & Opportunity
Transport & Mobility
Participation & Democracy
Poverty & Inequality
Housing and Communities
Transitions Into Adulthood
Youth Safety
Employment and Skills
Equality & Inclusion
Mental Health & Wellbeing
Public Services
Crime Prevention & Safety
And emerging issues affecting the next generation.
Our work can focus on a single issue or examine how multiple systems interact.
Our projects vary in scale, sector and methodology but each is built around the same objective:
Making youth voice useful.
The Challenge
The Local Authority identified a deterioration in safeguarding outcomes and practice across its children's services. This represented a significant change from the improvements the authority had experienced across schools and children's services over the preceding decade.
Our Approach
Rising Generation provided initial independent advice and identified concerns regarding a potential underlying issue within the authority's safeguarding practice. We recommended further investigation to understand the experiences of young people and professionals and identify any systemic factors contributing to the change.
Rising Generation subsequently delivered a large-scale consultation reaching 618 recipients of the authority's children's services.
The engagement incorporated:
Surveys
Group discussions and facilitated engagement
Professional and stakeholder engagement
A large-scale conference bringing young people, directors and professionals together in the same space
This created multiple routes for participants to communicate their experiences and enabled Rising Generation to compare perspectives across different groups.
The Outcome
Rising Generation analysed the consultation findings across the different forms of engagement. The evidence identified significant concerns regarding the development of a closed organisational culture within the authority's care services, alongside associated safeguarding and systemic issues.
The Local Authority subsequently acknowledged and confirmed Rising Generation's concerns regarding the presence of a closed culture within its workplace.
Working collaboratively, the Local Authority and Rising Generation developed an internal plan to support the transition away from this culture while maintaining safeguards for young people and protecting the continuity of children's services.
Rising Generation and the Local Authority are now working in partnership to support the implementation of this plan.
Impact
618 recipients of children's services engaged
Multiple consultation and engagement methodologies
Young people, directors and professionals brought together
Systemic organisational concerns identified
Joint improvement plan developed
Ongoing partnership established
The Challenge
The client approached Rising Generation to investigate the relationship between several factors affecting young people, including substance use, alcohol, poverty, attendance and educational attainment.
The client required a structured consultation and analysis process that could explore these interconnected issues and provide useful evidence for future decision-making.
Our Approach
Rising Generation first worked with the client to understand the objectives of the investigation and develop an appropriate consultation and reporting package.
The resulting project combined:
Consultation design
Online survey management
Two facilitated in-person discussions
Data analysis
A consultation and data report
An advisory meeting with a Data Analyst and Consultation Practitioner
The combination of quantitative survey information and direct discussion allowed the project to examine both measurable patterns and the experiences behind them.
Following completion of the initial consultation, the findings were discussed with the client during an advisory meeting. This identified a further requirement for more direct youth engagement and preventative intervention.
The Outcome
The initial consultation and reporting project provided the client with structured analysis of the relationship between the identified factors and informed discussion around potential next steps.
Following the findings and advisory discussion, the client commissioned a second stage of work focused on youth engagement and intervention.
Rising Generation subsequently designed and delivered an engagement and intervention programme consisting of nine 90-minute sessions, supported by:
An initial meeting with management staff
Workshop design
Nine facilitated sessions
An advisory meeting focused on outcomes and sustainable intervention
The programme was subsequently completed, with the client then requesting consideration of continued prevention-focused support while a longer-term delivery arrangement was identified.
Impact
Initial consultation and data analysis completed
Multiple data-collection methods used
Findings translated into further intervention
Nine 90-minute engagement sessions delivered
Consultation developed into a longer-term prevention discussion
Client subsequently explored continuation of prevention-focused services
